Dr. Reed, Is it possible to lose penile length after an adult circumcision. Done 5 years ago. Any remedies? Angel
Yes, an overzealous circumcision (overly aggressive adult circumcision) can remove the skin that is needed to sheath an erection. This may cause a drawing of pubic skin and hair onto the shaft as well as a penile-scrotal web. Weight gain also can cause the buried penis (aka concealed penis, hidden penis) look. Below is a before an after photograph of a patient who presented with a buried penis which we were able to “exhume” by a pubic skin dermatolipectom,y (escutcheonectomy) and pulling the released tunica albuginea up to the reset skin plane. On the underside similar maneuver was accomplished primarily with release of a penile scrotal web.
