Circumcision revision for loose skin

Dr. Reed, Thinking of a circumcision revision.  I was circumcised at birth, but have a lot of loose skin around my penis.  It is very unsightly when penis is flaccid but not so evident when erect as I’m quite large.  Most importantly, having this extra skin, aside from being unsightly, effects my sexual performance as I believe I’m not as sensitive as if the skin wasn’t there (ie extra layer of skin exists and is still somewhat loose when erect).  I have a hard time climaxing during sex.  I believe if the skin were removed, my penis would be more attractive and have greater sensitivity.  Nelson

Dear Nelson,

Circumcised men and uncircumcised men on average take the same amount of intravaginal time to ejaculate.  There should be on average no difference in penile sensitivity.  There are medicines to help promote orgasm which we can discuss.  Cosmetic revision of your circumcision is certainly a reasonable request.  Some men will note the onset of loose penile skin following weight gain.  In this situation, your abdominal and pubic skin blouses over your penis.  If you stand in front of a full length mirror and lift your lower abdominal skin and this corrects the situation, a circumcision revision may not be what you need, but rather a lower abdominal and pubic lift and of course weight reduction.
