Dr. Reed, Do you have a favorite circumcision style?  Alan

Dear Alan,

Moderation is the best advice I can give you.  At the Reed Centre you have a choice of 4 circumcision styles.  Remove or do not remove the frenulum, cut low moderate or high, loose tight or moderate, cut on the oblique parallel to the rim of the head of the penis (typical) or perpendicular to the long axis of the penis.

Ideally we want to join 2 equal circumferences.  The neck of the penis, just before the head or glans is narrower.  Without doing a V cut or wedge resection on the underside there will be a tendency for puckers above the circumcision line.

Ultra-tight cuts will draw scrotal and pubic skin onto the shaft of the penis and may shorten penile length.  When you are at the office, we’ll pre-mark your penis so you have a good idea of what to expect.
