Malleable vs Inflatable Penile Implant? Which One to Choose | Dr. Harold Reed | The Reed Centre

Abstracted from the Journal of Sexual Medicine appearing in their August journal. Whereas the author personally favors an inflatable penile implant, there are reasons when a malleable penile implant may be more appropriate.  Special considerations: men with poor dexterity, partially buried penis secondary to obesity who may have difficulty accessing the pump; patients unfit for regional or general anesthesia as the malleable can be inserted under local.  Patients who wish to lower the risk of revision surgery as malleables should last a lifetime,. Lastly economical reasons… malleables are a lot less expensive.
