Interested in circumcision

March 31st, 2012

March 27, 2012

Dear Dr. Reed,

I would like to have my foreskin removed.  So, I would like to know the cost and I soon that can get back in action after surgery.

Mencedes

March 27, 2012

Good morning Mencedes,

Thank you for your interest in what we do.  Your penis is one of the most important cosmetic and functional features of your body.

You could be back in an office environments 3 days and sexually active in about 7 to 8 weeks,.

We have performed over 6500 cosmetic circumcisions and revisions in the past 35 years and usually do several cases every week.  Our fees are posted on our web-ste (consultation: 250 and circumcision to include surgery, use of the facility, local anesthesia, and any followwp care we provide: 1750).

We have done sons of physicians, brothers, religious circumcisions, men who have not seen the heads of their penis for 20 years! This is your circumcision and we do it the way you want with respect to 4 parameters.

Please don’t be like the patient done elsewhere who writes: “Dr. Reed I just got circumcised two days ago and my result was not what i expected. I was wondering when i recover can i get a consultation with you.” Photos sent and received (unspoken comment “disaster zone”)

Be assured we will show you every courtesy,

All the best,

Patient interested in Acell foreskin regeneration

March 31st, 2012

March 25, 2012

Hello Dr. Reed, I wanted to apologize for flooding you with questions. You’re a doctor, not a therapist. How can I make a consultation appointment? I wish to know whether or not an Acell foreskin is an exact regeneration of what was cut off? Thank you, ill pay the 250  Jasmus

March 26, 2012

Good morning Jasmus,

Thank you for your continued interest.

At this time we are following our first patient, and perhaps best to wait and see how he does.  So far his recovery looks good, but he is less than 2 weeks out and the Acell rep says it will take 45 plus days to see skin as was there before.  The head of the penis covered with his own shaft skin, and that part looks fine.  We are focusing in on replacement of the denuded shaft, that portion that underwent skin advancement over the glans or head.

Have a productive work week,

Sincerely,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.

Pesky peno-scrotal web, overzealous circumcision

March 4th, 2012

March 1, 2012

Dear Dr. Reed,

As an infant during circumcision way too much skin was removed which has reulted in the skin of my penis being overly tight and the skin from my scrotum being pulled up like a web to 1/2 way out the length of my penise. I am not interested in reconstruction of the foreskin, rather releasing the scrotum skin and perhaps gaining more skin at the base. Is something like this possible? thank you   Henry

Marcvh 1, 2012

Good morning Henry,

Thank you for your interest in what we do.

Please see http://www.penisdoctor.com/penoscrotal_web.htm
for some background information and photographic examples.

We do several cases every year.

Aside from a cosmetic goal, your penis will look longer and you will not have to contend with scrotal skin going into a vagina during
coitus.

Phimosis, conservative management?

March 4th, 2012

February 26, 2012

Dear Dr. Reed,

What do you recommend as a conservative treatment for occasional phimosis.

Jimbo

February 26, 2012

Good morning Jimbo,

Some doctors will try empirically (without cultures or biopsy) a cream that is a combination of steroid and an antifungal agent.

I cannot recommend this for you in that I am not your doctor and have not examined you.

You may wish to ask your doctor if http://www.tarousa.com/Products/Rx/ClotrimazoleandBetamethasoneDipropionateCreamUSP/Product.html
is right for you.  Do use this product sparingly twice a day if prescribed, as irreversible atrophy of the penile skin may occur.

Have a restful Sunday,

More on AlloDerm, shaft and glans enlargement

March 4th, 2012

February 26, 2012

ok, do to the fact that i work overseas the juvederm is kind of inconvenient.  if i elect the alloderm option for the glans enlargement what kind of risks am i looking at??  any risk of loss of sensation in my penis??  and im not quite sure what you meant when you said “an undesirable compression during early wound healing when there is a transient swelling.”  all i care about is that when its fully healed will it look good and feel the same if i opt for this method(the alloderm for glands enlargement).  and when is the soonest i’d be able to have sex after the operation?  thus far i think we can look to book a date for at least the shaft girth enlargement procedure.  what openings do you have for the first week in april? april 2nd is preferable  Manny

February 26, 2012

Good morning Manny,

Possibly compressing nerves and hope they’ll recover is not the best of medicine.  Doctors who extend AlloDerm from the shaft onto the head have actually cut nerves.  I’ll show you the anatomical drawings when you are at the office right out of a textbook. 70% recovery is not 100%, so I have to be very cautious and advise you the same.

With AlloDerm into the shaft, not one patient has complained of loss of sensation, although conceivably if a 1000 cases were done, it might happen.

We have availabilities the week of April 2nd.   We could see you on April 2nd in secondary consultation at the office, and do surgery the following day.  The procedure  is done under local with or without IV sedation and is very well tolerated.

Your primary consultation has to be done before on the phone so I can obtain a thorough medical history, make recommendations to assure you will have a smooth recovery, and of course answer every question you have.

If this is agreeable to you, our consultation fee is 250.

Sincerely,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.

Considering AlloDerm for penile girth enhancement

March 4th, 2012

February 25, 2012

Dear Dr. Reed,

my names manny and im looking to get an alloderm/belloderm girth enhancement along with a glans enhancement.  im a contractor that works overseas and the next time i’ll be back in the United States is April, and i’d like to get the surgery done then.  my penis is about 7 inches when erect so i dont know whether or not that constitutes me purchasing another strip of alloderm/belloderm.  what would the total cost be of a girth and glans enhancement?(i can pay in full, no bank loans or anything)  what kind of a recovery time am i looking at?(whens the earliest i can go back to work?  whens the earliest i can have sex afterward?)  the initial face to face consultation would probably have to be the same week as the surgery becaause im only gonna be in florida about 2 weeks.  will that be a problem?

February 25, 2012

Good morning Manny,

Thank you for your interest in what we do

Yes, a man of your dimension will require extra AlloDerm. (actually it will be one continuous but larger strip).

For glans enhancement, there are 2 ways this can be done.  First is with AlloDerm, but in that we would insert the strip over the neurovascular bundle for the shaft and under the neurovascular bundle for the glans, this could provide an undesirable compression during early wound healing when there is a transient swelling.

Other glans alternative is to use a filler called Juvederm Ultraplus. However, there will be a need for a touch up in 6 months as this is known to reabsorb.

Or we can do just the shaft.

If you op for a simultaneous procedure the combined fee would be discounted… Whereas 9200 plus 3950 equals 13,150, your fee would be 1250.

Please advise on your thoughts and have safe a restful weekend.  “Play it cool in the company pool”,

Diagnosed with Peyronies, considering implant and pubic liposuction

March 4th, 2012

February 24, 2012

I have been diagnosed with Peyronies decease and have been suggested to get an implant. My wife also heard about the removal of belly fat to assist in the increase in size of the penis can you please tell me anything about this. Also do you know of a doctor in Orlando or Tamps that could help me with this situation?  Maynard

Good morning Maynard,

Not all Peyronie’s patients need an implant and if an implant is indicated, Peyronie’s curvature may be corrected by the presence of the implant alone  (without further surgery).

Regretfully we do not maintain a directory of a handful of surgeons who are exceedingly skillful in Peyronies.

Yes, we do pubic liposuction and dermatolipectomy and lifting to expose more penis.  If the pubic surgery  is extensive, better not to combine implant and pubic surgery as there will be appreciable transient genital swelling post surgery which may not be an optimal environment for implant healing.

Best wishes,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.

Will circumcision reduce sensitivity of head (glans)

March 4th, 2012

February 24, 2012

Dr.Reed, I have a problem with excessive sensitivity of the penis head, frenulum and surrounding skin (with very minor phimosis) which results in early ejaculation. This is a major problem for me and I am ready to do anything to reduce the sensitivity. Will the circ operation and removal of frenulum reduce the sensitivity? I heard there’s also an operation when the nerve leading to the head is cut and connected back again, which leads to much lower sensitivity after everything’s healed. Do you perform anything like this? Sorry for my English. And does your center help with any financing? Thank you.  Nigel

Good morning Nigel,

Please avail yourself of a proper urological consultation at the office.  Many thoughts come to mind and I am inclined to start with the most conservative first.

Sincerely,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.

More on Acell

March 4th, 2012

February 24, 2012

Hi Doctor Reed,

I am very interested in the Acell procedure for foreskin regeneration and I would like to undergo this surgery as soon as it has a proven track record. Do you intend to test it in a near future?

Kind regards,

Bela

Good morning Bela,

On retreat in the Carolinas until March 5, but we keep in contact
with our patients always.

Our first Acell case is scheduled for about March 9,
and we already have several others standing by, to see
the outcome and follow the patient’s progress.

Please continue to E-mail me.  Hopefully we’ll be able
to put together a photo gallery chronicling our experience.

Most cordially,

Acell for foreskin regeneration to start soon

March 4th, 2012

February 24, 2012

Dear Dr. Reed,

I just wanted to send a quick thank you email for yesterday. I sincerely appreciate you being so generous in answering all of my questions and willingly taking your time to do so. After so many years of being unhappy with my penis I am 100% confident that you are the right physician to help me. I’m so glad that I got to do a consult and am more certain than ever that I want you to do this procedure on me. I felt very comfortable and welcomed by you and Ms. Ann. I look forward to scheduling my procedure within the next 3-4 months even if the Acell may not work and the old procedure must be used. However, I can hardly wait to see the results the Acell may produce. Thanks again!

Best Regards,

Jason

Good morning Jason,

Thank you for reaching out to me.  Believe me
your visit to the office was treasured.  I will keep you
posted regarding our Acell experience.

Harold M. Reed, M.D.
