Penile Septa

Monday, July 25th, 2011

Dr. Reed, I was reading what you said about cutting the ‘septa’ under the skin
of the penis and allowing it to heal shorter than it was before, thus decreasing
wrinkes.

If the ‘septa’ of the whole penis were severed, the penis bound fairly tightly
for a certain period of time, would this result in a tighter or more stationary
skin covering the penis, such that it wouldn’t move as much as before?

I’ve also heard a story about a mother ‘scraping’ the dartos fascia on a small
child so that the penile skin would adhere to the ‘broken’ surface, thus holding
the skin still against the fascia. Do you think there is any truth to that
story?

No, I was referring to the ‘septa’ you had written about being shortest onthe
soles of the feet, longer on the palms of the hands, longer still on the back of
the hand, and even longer(?) under the skin of the penis. (If I’m right)   Jack

Hi Jack,

By septa do you mean the midline pigmented longitudinal raphe on the underside
of the penis?
