Will circumcision cure my premature ejaculation?

Sunday, November 6th, 2011

November 5, 2011

I have always wanted a circumcision because I have always felt different, self conscious around other men in the locker room etc. Lasting a little more then 5 seconds would be wonderful..I have read the research that this is no guarantee that I will eliminate PE (premature ejaculation) completely but to me it has to improve as anything is better then what happens now and has happened for years. I have seen the pictures and are thinking of a middle circumcision with no pigment discoloration. How do I go about scheduling a time this December?   Jimmy

Good morning Jimmy,

Thank you for your interest in what we do.  Your penis is one of the most important functional and cosmetic features of your body.  When you initiate a consultation, we’ll discuss a medication which helps to retard ejaculation.  Circumcision should not effect ejaculatory latency time, one way or the other.

We have performed over 6500 cosmetic circumcisions and revisions in the past 35 years and usually do several cases every week.

We have done sons of physicians, brothers, religious circumcisions, men who have not seen the heads of their penis for 20 years!  This is your circumcision and we do it the way you want with respect to 4 parameters.

Please don’t be like the patient who writes: “Dr. Reed I just got circumcised (elsewhere) two days ago, and my result was not what i expected. I was wondering when i recover can i get a consultation with you.”  Photos sent and received.  Unspoken comment: “disaster zone.”

Be assured we will show you every courtesy,

All the best,

Circumcision, correction of penile curvature, and vasectomy can be done at same time

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

October 24, 2011

i’m a 30 year old male looking to do 2 or 3 types of surgery. 1 is the circumcision 2 is the vasectomy and 3 if there is any possibility to fix , my penis is tilted to the left and I want it to be a little more   Ellery

Good afternoon Ellery,

Thank you for your interest in what we do.  Your penis is one of the
most important cosmetic and functional features of your body.

Yes, all 3 procedures could be done at the same time.  I would need to see photos of your erection to provide a price quote.  Circumcision is frequently suggested at the time of penile degloving for curvature correction as the recovery is a lot smoother.  Please send down views, side views, and face on views by E-mail.

What to expect after circumcision?

Sunday, October 9th, 2011

October 9, 2011

how much is the operation and how long will it take to heel after the operation is successful….is there any medical risk i should be aware of?

Jordan

Good morning Jordan,

Thank you for your interest in what we do.  Your penis is one of the most important functional and cosmetic features of your body.

While you could return to an office environment in about 3 days, no penetrating sex for a good 7 weeks.   Please review our informed consent posted on our web-site.  The most common occurrence is some wound separation secondary perhaps to a spontaneous erection which can be abated with the use of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, a medication that can be obtained from most drug stores, but you have to sign for it
(no prescription is necessary).

We have performed over 6500 cosmetic circumcisions and revisions in the past 35 years and usually do several cases every week.

Circumcision needed by a man doing physically demanding work

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

July 31, 2011

Dr. Reed,

I am interested in adult circumcision. I am having a lot of problems and was wondering if this was something covered by my insurance (aetna). I was also wondering if age was a factor ( i am 49) and if i have a physically demanding job how long will i have to wait before going back to work?   Felipe

Good morning Felipe,

Thank you for your interest in what we do. Your penis is one of the most important cosmetic and functional features of your body. Fortunately
we are both in Miami-Dade. Our office is next to the Bal Harbour Shoppes.

We are not a contracted Aetna provider, but will fill out your insurance form for maximal reimbursement to you as an “out of network” physician.
Please confer with an Aetna representative to be sure these benefits are working in your favor.

I would certainly propose a good week to be on convalescence. Ideally try to include 2 weekends in your time-off. If all is well, you could return
to work sooner.

We have performed over 6500 cosmetic circumcisions and revisions in the past 35 years and usually do several cases every week.

We have done sons of physicians, brothers, religious circumcisions, men who have not seen the heads of their penis for 20 years! This

How do I know if I have phimosis

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

June 21, 2011

Are there any ways to check and see if I have phimosis?   Adam

Good morning Adam,

Hopefully you do not have phimosis.  But this in itself is usually not a serious condition and treatment can vary from medical to circumcision.

Phimosis is when you cannot easily retract your foreskin over the head of your penis.  Relative phimosis is when erect you cannot have enough pliability to retract the foreskin over the head of your penis.

If you have associated symptoms such as micro-tears, and recurrent inflammations or infections, of course see a urologist.

If you are having problems with daily hygiene, this also may be an indication of phimosis.

Sincerely,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.

Ops, a 1/4″ opening after circumcision, will it go away?

Saturday, May 28th, 2011

May 26, 2011

Dr. Reed,

I had a Circ on 4/12/2011, the disolving sutures disolved after a week and a half, there is a opening a 1/4 inch on top and about 1/2 in on the right side its been open for the last month, my surgeon says it will close up, but after a month of being open I dont know if it will close up. do you think it will close up?

Tom

Good afternoon Tom,

This is a letter we send to prospective patients.

Taking one consideration with another, most probably you will
heal fine.  If you wish, I will review some photos and our phone
consult fee is 250.   Recommendations will be made to speed wound healing.

Here’s the letter… (again most probably you will heal fine)

Fordyce spots

Monday, May 9th, 2011

May 3, 2011

Hi Dr. Reed,

We spoke in August of last year regarding the tract marks that were left from my circumcision. Please read our emails below for a quick refresher.

I took your advice and went to see a dermatologist and explained the situation in its  full entirety. He gave me a cream called Dermovate  which is a steroid cream that I have to apply nightly. I don’t think this will help as it will not tackle the fact that the skin healed around the stitches creating tiny holes that seem to contain sebum sometimes. It seems to me that the only other way would be to excise the skin from the area.

How much would this procedure cost and how many days would I need to be in Miami for?

Also I have tiny Fordyce Spots on the shaft of my penis and would like them removed. I know they are not of any concern but for me I hate them. I have researched this tremendously and it seems the only method to tackle Fordyce Spots with a hyfrecator.   Do you do hyfrecatio treatments and if not can you recommend anyone to Hyfrecator these tiny Fordyce Spots.

These issues are affecting my sex life and as a young male who loves women, I really want them to get sorted.

Hope you guys are doing well in sunny Miami,

Kind Regards,
Dillon

Good morning Dillon,

Thank you for your update. Most likely we can do both if the Fordyce spots are not too extensive or clustered so that hyfrecation will leave a noticeable scar on the skin. As you know Fordyce spots are small sebaceous cysts unassociated with hair follicles.

Out fee for both is 1800 to include office consultation, local anesthesia, use of the operating room, and my followup care.

Plan on staying either at Daddy O’s Hotel or the Baltic as I will see you there daily for 2 post-operative days.

Please review the attached for general suggestions.

Sincerely,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.

Do you induce an erection during surgery to be sure, it will not be too tight

Sunday, April 24th, 2011

April 23, 2011

I am terribly sorry for the delay of scheduling my appointment. I was caught up with some personal matters. In either case, I have been doing a little more research on peoples adult circumcision experiences and I have a very specific question regarding style and procedure.

Do you operate on the penis while it is erect to ensure the look is aesthetically pleasing with a full erection, or do you operate on it while it is flaccid? Is it bad practice to operate on a penis while it is erect?

My concern is that my penis is very small when flaccid (1.5 inches) but about 5.5-6inches when erect. The other cosmetic urologist I spoke to said he would not induce an erection neither before or during the procedure (indicating it was unacceptable practice) and he will estimate how much skin to remove only while flaccid with some manual traction to simulate an erection. This makes me worry too much skin will be removed without knowing how much the penis expands on an erection and as a result will cause my penis to become shorter in length.

What is your approach to this? Is operating on an erect penis truly more risky than while it is flaccid? How would we ensure that only enough skin is removed to maintain a good look when fully erect?

Thanks,

Pattash

Good morning Pattash,

While we do not operate on the penis when erect, we do put the penis on traction to simulate erect length.

Inducing an erection with medication leads to enhanced blood flow and may cause more bruising and blood loss.  Of course we could inject your penis with sterile saline and place a tourniquet at the base as we do for Peyronies’s patients, but this is normally not done.

If you wish, we could induce an erection in the examination room and pre-mark your penis. Then we could reverse the erection in the operating room.  So there are many ways we can accommodate you.

More importantly is that you like the result when your penis is flaccid.  For every patient we see that is unhappy with their penis erect post circumcision by another doctor, we see 20 times as many patients unhappy with the appearance when flaccid.  For example,  loose skin rolling over the corona or rim of the glans.

That too much skin will be removed is a good hypothetical consideration, but in fact has never happened in our practice.

Have a restful weekend,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.
