pricing for adult circumsizion. Bob

Good morning Bob,

Thank you for your interest in what we do.  Your penis is one of the most important cosmetic and functional features of your body.

Our fees are posted on our web-site and in the attached.   Consultation is 250, a one time charge and we encourage initiation over the phone to be followed by further discussion and examination at the office.  Cosmetically performed adult circumcision to include local anesthesia, use of the facility, and any followup care we provide is 1750.  We have performed over 6,500 cosmetic circumcisions and revisions in the past 35 years and usually do several cases every week.

We have done sons of physicians, brothers, religious circumcisions, men who have not seen the heads of their penis for 20 years!   This is your circumcision and we do it the way you want with respect to 4 parameters.

Please don’t be like the patient done elsewhere who writes: “Dr. Reed I just got circumcised two days ago and my result was not what i expected. I was wondering when i recover can i get a consultation with you.” Photos sent and received (unspoken comment “disaster zone”)

Be assured we will show you every courtesy,

All the best,

What to expect after circumcision?

how much is the operation and how long will it take to heel after the operation is successful….is there any medical risk i should be aware of?

Jordan

Good morning Jordan,

Thank you for your interest in what we do.  Your penis is one of the most important functional and cosmetic features of your body.

While you could return to an office environment in about 3 days, no penetrating sex for a good 7 weeks.   Please review our informed consent posted on our web-site.  The most common occurrence is some wound separation secondary perhaps to a spontaneous erection which can be abated with the use of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, a medication that can be obtained from most drug stores, but you have to sign for it
(no prescription is necessary).

We have performed over 6500 cosmetic circumcisions and revisions in the past 35 years and usually do several cases every week.

We have done sons of physicians, brothers, religious circumcisions, men who have not seen the heads of their penis for 20 years!   This  is your circumcision and we do it the way you want with respect to 4 parameters.

Please don’t be like the patient who writes: “Dr. Reed I just got circumcised (elsewhere) two days ago, and my result was not what i expected. I was wondering when i recover can i get a consultation with you.”  Photos sent and received.  Unspoken comment: “disaster zone.”

Be assured we will show you every courtesy,

All the best,

Some kind words from a grateful patient

Saturday, October 8th, 2011

Dr. Reed and Anne,   i cannot express how fortunate i consider myself for making you my choice when i decided to become circumcised.      Let me first say that i have lived 46 years ashamed and embarrassed because i felt different. I avoided relationships and abandoned a childhood dream of joining the military as i feared being nude in front of others. even after having the money for the procedure i was still reluctant because i was even ashamed of having to disrobe for medical professionals.                                                             After searching the internet for a local urologist/ surgeon i decided to call your office because of how informative your website was.           I first spoke with Anne,  who by the way was the first woman i have  ever  felt comfortable being nude in front of, a testament to her absolute professionalism. while prepping me for the procedure we talked as though we were in line at the supermarket.  For any one reading this and considering this procedure, i can tell you that there was zero ( ZERO ) pain involved at all, not even from the first injection to numb the area. Dr.Reed asked me continuously how i was doing, making sure i felt no pain. Even with sutures i was amazed by the transformation and how it good it looked after he was done.                                                                                                          What impressed my the most about Dr. Reed was when i  called telling him that i had managed to tear all of the  sutures on the bottom and now had a large scar. Most businesses as most of us know would rather not hear from you again after receiving payment, unless that is  there is more money to be made. The torn sutures was my doing, but Dr.Reed repaired it, made me feel as welcome as when we first met and the cost to repair the damage i had done probably would not cover the amount  of electricity it took do do it, truly some one who cares about his patients. THANK YOU Dr.Reed and Anne for giving me confidence that i have never before experienced and making me feel complete. please allow this letter to be read by all.                                                                                                  very sincerely ,   V.W.

Weight 300 pounds, borderline hypertension (140/80) why do I need medical clearance?

Friday, August 12th, 2011

August 9, 2011

Just tell me if it has to be 130/80 to be operated on or not. I want to know everything, before I attempt to make arraingements or fly  to miami, anytime this year if possible. I understand there is possible bleeding, and have been researching this surgery procedure for particulars. How ever I am serious about having this done, I have had hemoglobin test, I am not diabetic. If a person weighs 300  does this play a factor, I will need to know if this will be false hopes, or not about being operated on. Is it a standard physical or is  it in depth, or very comprehensive. Again  do you do a lot of blood work. Sometimes I have white coat syndrome, sometimes I dont, I take two kinds of blood pressure, medicine to correct it  Damien

August 10, 2011

Dear Dr. Reed!!!  Thanks, I will try to acquire that, when I can.  with reference to ekg? You didn,t tell that in  beginning, It is not life or death situation, However, Phimosis, is my diagnosis, It needs to be done, All you told me before was I needed was a letter from doctor saying I am fit to udergo this kind surgery, in this setting.

Good morning Damien,

Any prudent internist, if you are being treated for hypertension or weigh 300 pounds, will need to do an EKG to clear you.  This is a called a “standard of  (good medical) care.”

Please do not take short cuts with medical safety.

Best.

You have a friend in Bay Harbor Islands,

Harold

Good afternoon Damien,

I am sure you realize I really know nothing about you and picking on bits and pieces of data such as weight without height and an occasional blood pressure, or taking things out of context
is not good medicine.

If you want more reassurance from me, I would need a letter of medical clearance saying you are fit to undergo circumcision in an outpatient free standing facility from your primary care doctor
with reference to an EKG and list of all your current medications.

I’ll bet any doctor who is going to operate on you, will ask for the same.

Best wishes,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.

Circumcision needed by a man doing physically demanding work

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

July 31, 2011

Dr. Reed,

I am interested in adult circumcision. I am having a lot of problems and was wondering if this was something covered by my insurance (aetna). I was also wondering if age was a factor ( i am 49) and if i have a physically demanding job how long will i have to wait before going back to work?   Felipe

Good morning Felipe,

Thank you for your interest in what we do. Your penis is one of the most important cosmetic and functional features of your body. Fortunately
we are both in Miami-Dade. Our office is next to the Bal Harbour Shoppes.

We are not a contracted Aetna provider, but will fill out your insurance form for maximal reimbursement to you as an “out of network” physician.
Please confer with an Aetna representative to be sure these benefits are working in your favor.

I would certainly propose a good week to be on convalescence. Ideally try to include 2 weekends in your time-off. If all is well, you could return
to work sooner.

We have performed over 6500 cosmetic circumcisions and revisions in the past 35 years and usually do several cases every week.

We have done sons of physicians, brothers, religious circumcisions, men who have not seen the heads of their penis for 20 years! This

Needs circ revision and Peyronie’s revision

Sunday, July 31st, 2011

July 31, 2011

Dear Dr. Reed,

I had a circumcision about 5 months ago and it was not done neatly at all there are suture tracks, raised and sensitive spots and this 3 cm scar which looks like a incision that didn’t heal let when they put in the stitch I agreed to, I agreed to a straightening bendable stitch to be put inside of my penis to make it straight because of my downward curvature but they put it too close to the surface on top of my penis right below my head and the whole area keeps getting irritated and you can see one prong of the stitch through the skin and it looks terrible would i be able to get a revision and have the stitch inside of my shaft taken out or moved to the middle bottom of my shaft without leaving extra incision marks?
contact:     Nathan

Good morning Nathan,

Thank you for your excellent case presentation. Really sorry to hear that so many things have not worked out as you
anticipated. We would never close a penile curvature case without producing an erection in the operating room to be sure
it is straight. or meets with patient approval. Look at photographic examples of our circumcision results and see if this is more to your expectations.

The following is a letter we send to prospective concussion patients.   Might be of interest.

How do I know if I have phimosis

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

June 21, 2011

Are there any ways to check and see if I have phimosis?   Adam

Good morning Adam,

Hopefully you do not have phimosis.  But this in itself is usually not a serious condition and treatment can vary from medical to circumcision.

Phimosis is when you cannot easily retract your foreskin over the head of your penis.  Relative phimosis is when erect you cannot have enough pliability to retract the foreskin over the head of your penis.

If you have associated symptoms such as micro-tears, and recurrent inflammations or infections, of course see a urologist.

If you are having problems with daily hygiene, this also may be an indication of phimosis.

Sincerely,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.

Effect of circumcision on penile size

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011
Re: Effect of circumcision on size

Hello Dr. Reed I am condsidering a circumsion at the age of 19. Will it change the look of my penis from a size point of view. And since I live in the Bay Area in California I was wondering if you could recomend someone for the surgery since I dont think I can make it to Florida. Id really appreciate your input. Thankyou   Aubrey

Hi Aubrey,

Thanks for your E-mail inquiry and visiting our web-site http://penisdoctor.com/circumcision.htm.

A circumcision is perhaps the highest cosmetic calling given to a urologist.

There is no scientific reason to believe a properly performed circumcision on an otherwise healthy lad will have any change in the size of your penis. However very rarely we do see a case of compressesive phimosis and yes with those patients the glans seems to open up more. If a circumcision is done too tightly, it may invert your penis,  just the opposite of what you might wish.

Sorry, we do not maintain a directory of a handful of urologists who are exceedingly gifted in cosmetic circumcision.  Please look in the yellow pages under urologists as this is a commonly performed procedure.

Best wishes,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.

Balanitis and tenderness after adult circumcision

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011
Re: Cicumcised elsewhere and a quick question

I am 35 and just got circed 10 days ago. My foreskin never pulled back over the head of my penis, and sex was sometimes painful. I am still experiencing a great deal of discomfort and pain when the head of my penis is touched, even lightly touched. Is there any possibility that it will remain like this?
 Erik

Hi Erik,

I am assuming after circumcision the head of your penis is now exposed. Given that you had a phimosis, I am not surprised the head or glans is inflamed and it will take a few weeks for that to subside, may be faster than that. Ask your doctor to prescribe some numbing cream or an antibiotic ointment, sometimes a mixture of an antifungal agent and steroid, but use very sparingly as steroids can cause skin atrophy and this is not reversible.

Usually after a period of time, the glans becomes cornified and this difficulty should cease. Please provide a followup.

Wishing you well,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.

Sex after an adult circumcision

Monday, June 13th, 2011
Re: Recovery time and discomfort for a 25 year old

Thank you Shiva for your post.

We do advise no penetrating sex for at least 6 to 8 weeks, as incisions do not regain full tensile strength until 8 weeks out. The penis is continuously challenged every night with 4 to 5 nocturnal erections. That’s enough in the beginning. If there are any unhealed areas or skin that is not completely cornified, certainly penetrating sex is not advised.
