Recurrent micro-tears, an indication for adult circumcision

I am a 39 year old, never circumcised. I want to get a procedure done, as I am experiencing frequent micro-tears on the skin after the sexual activity and some pain, also possible erectal/sensitivity issues. My girlfriend is suggesting I should get it done. What do I need to get prior to the procedure, do I need a referral from my regular doctor? Also, do you know if my insurance (blue cross blue shield) will cover this procedure, as I need it done for medical, not cosmetic reasons? Any advice will be appreciated, Thank you!    Vladimir

Good morning Vladimir,

Thank you for your interest in what we do. Please call Anne at the office who will verify your Blue Cross/Blue Shield policy.

Recurrent micro-tears is usually a reason to proceed with circumcision.  We have recently posted some excellent phiotos of this condition on our web0-site http://penisdoctor.com/photo-circumcision.htm  Please look at examples 6/1-2 and 7/1-2.

We have performed over 6000 cosmetic circumcisions in the past 35 years and usually do several cases every week.

Sincerely,

Harold M. Reed, M.D.
