I am scheduled to be in on 10/20/09 for a circumcision revision at 1pm. I have a thick pubic fat pad that conceals some of my penis. Do you do any procedures to greatly reduce it to almost nothing, how much does it cost if you do and would you be able to do that at the same time?     Eliazar

Good morning Eliazar,

Yes, removal of the pubic fat pad is something we do fairly often, but please remember the pubis is the lymphatic delta that drains the penis. Aggressive liposuction, which is what you are asking for, will imperil your circumcision wound healing.  Best to do this either before or after.

Our ultrasonic liposuction unit is state of the art and avoids the burns often associated with laser liposuction.  When your fat starts been evacuated through a large clear plastic tube, we call it the
“march of the fat.”

You don’t go to the Mall after a circumcision, you stay in the recovery room  for a good 2 hours to be sure there is no untoward bleeding and then within 8 minutes you are in bed at a nearby motel where the doctor can see you the next day or go home if within an 8 minute’s driving range.

Do not stop at the pharmacy, a few hours of local anesthesia can an be very disillusioning and harmful if you do things other than bed rest.

All sutures, absorbable or not, must be removed typically on the 12th day, lest you have cross hatch marks (ghost lines) or pin holes permanently.

Usually what you see on the table is what you get, unless there is a good reason to believe otherwise.  Please take a good 3 or more months to heal and then if concerned see me for a revision if you feel this is indicated. 

Please do not put ice on the penis as you could get frost bite with skin damage.  Penile skin is very precious and large scars are not a good substitute.
