Diabetics have more than unusual pain following circumcision

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Diabetics may have peripheral neuropathy and this typically results in hypo-sensitivity but can result in tingling sensations, pain, and hypersensitivy.  In a list of 311 causes of penile hypersensitivity, diabetic neuropatrhy is mentioned.  (Results: 311 causes of hypersensitivity reaction OR Penis symptoms://symptoms.wrongdiagnosis.com/cosymptoms/hypersensitivity-reactions/penis-symptoms-sall.htm)

In most cases, early symptoms will become less when blood glucose is under control. Medications can be taken to help control the discomfort if needed.

If you are diabetic and have had a circumcision and feeling a lot of pain, please get a blood sugar test and if elevated, you need to see your diabetes doctor immediately.

Wanted tight, got loose

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

I had a circumcision done on July 20, 2009. The doctor performed a very loose cut after i asked him to give me a tight cut with as much inner skin left as possible. I am not very happy with the results and he is not responding to my emails. I was looking at you to do a revision and give me a tight cut. I was hoping to have this done some time in october. I am a grower and i dont know if that is why the doctor left so much skin but i had asked to be given a tight cut. he really didn’t do any analysing of the penis to even see how much skin he would need to cut in order to give me a tight cut. he was just like, ‘its going to be real loose, thats as good as i am going to get it.’ and basically just guessed when he removed the foreskin, no markings where he would remove the outer and inner skin. I was really nervous that day i went in, so i dont know if he used that opportunity to just do the circumcision however he pleased and knew i wouldn’t complain. I am really disappointed in.   Alvaro  contact: Email

Good afternoon Alvaro,

Thank you for your interest in what we do.

With all our patients a hand held mirror is in the operating room on a near by table and you can watch the operation in progress and comment.  We are not finished until you are supremely happy with the result.

Be assured we will pre-mark your penis before surgery and make any additional corrections as we go along to suit.

We have performed over 5000 cosmetic circumcisions in the past 35 years and usually do several cases every week.

Be assured we will show you every courtesy,

All the best,

All were done this past Friday, coming in from as far as Texas, and all have done exceptionally well.

We fussed over each patient, no clocks on the wall (just like a Casino), and saw each the next day.  Yes, we enjoy doing circumcisions and enjoy having the patient follow work in progress with a hand held mirror.  No inflammation or phimosis, but each one in their own way came to the conclusion for hygienic reasons, it was time.

When your first circ didn’t heal well and you have diabetes

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

Dr. Reed, One little dot on my frenulum is still red, should this be of concern?  I had a revision by you of another doctor’s circumcision because the incision line was somewhat raised and hard?  My Dad and his brother both died in their forties and had diabetes.  I do not, but you did discover an elevated blood sugar in my urine and my blood when I was in Miami to see you.   Steve

Good afternoon Steve,

You are in the formative stage of wound healing.  This is all about cosmetics and I recommended you see an internist or endocrinologist immediately after your return home.

Your blood sugars are running way too high.  You cannot isolate one system, the genito-urinary from the rest of the body and just treat that and expect everything to be fine.  Diabetics have vascular disease and poor blood flow equals poor wound healing and scarring.

No excuses, you need to be in a doctors office this Tuesday morning.

If someone is too busy go on to the next.

Your family history on your father’s side is well known to you.

The rest is up to you.

(a footnote…  diabetics in general heal just as well as other patients, but their diabetes has to be in good control)
