Very difficult to get accurate statistics, but I can tell you
our circumcision practice is booming. Sometimes 3 adults a day, usually several
every week. With all the media release about the benefits of circumcision, I am
not surprised. This is a patient driven operation, with or without insurance.
One doctor at last week’s AUA meeting said the incidence was 90% in the USA. I
think that may be too high, but I doubt seriously it is below 70 to 80%.

Our position even now is that it is not medically necessary for most, but this
of course is being challenged, rewrite “desirable.”
